Alan Lyons MISCP

 

Alan graduated with a BSc Physiotherapy Degree from University College Dublin in 2001, and with a PGDip Clinical Therapies Diploma and MSc Physiotherapy Masters from University of Limerick in 2009 and 2010. Alan regularly gives lectures in the University of Limerick to undergraduate Physiotherapy students. Since qualifying, Alan has specialised to become a Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist. He is a practicing member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Chartered Physiotherapists in Paediatrics Special Interest Group. Alan currently sees Paediatric clients at Blackpool Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic or in their own home. 

Alan gained valuable experience in the Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin for 2 years before travelling and working in Australia for a year. On his return he worked for COPE Foundation in Cork and has been working in Enable Ireland Cork Children's Services as a Senior Physiotherapist for 7 years. His post-graduate professional development also includes the Paediatric Bobath/NDT Course and a number of developmental orthopaedic and clinical motion analysis courses. 

Alan has recently trained as a Yoga Instructor with YTTC (Yoga Therapy & Training Centre) and combines this with his Physiotherapy experience to help people improve their posture and flexibility through Yoga. He currently teaches Physio Yoga Foundations 1 & 2 and Sports Yoga at Blackpool Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic.

In his spare time, Alan enjoys running, cycling, Yoga, ski-ing and travel. He has completed several marathons including Cork, Dublin, Belfast and Paris.
