Denise graduated with a B.Sc Physiotherapy (Hons) Degree from University College Dublin in 2001. She gained 2 years Junior Physiotherapy experience in Cork University Hospital and then travelled and worked in Australia for a year. She gained experience in busy Physiotherapy Clinics in Sydney and it was here she was introduced to Pilates as a method of rehabilitating low back pain and injuries. Denise then worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in private practice in Ireland for 6 years before establishing Blackpool Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic in 2009. She is always looking for ways to improve our service to clients and has recently developed Blackpool Physio Pilates & Yoga Studio at the Clinic.
Denise is a practicing member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and is committed to continuing her professional development. She received a Certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy in 2007(cervical, thoracic & lumbar spine assessment & treatment) and has completed numerous accredited Post Graduate courses including Sports Rehabilitation, Foot Biomechanics, Dry Needling, Kinetic Control (of the Lumbar Spine,Cervical Spine, & Lower Limb), Orthotic Prescription, Shoulder and Ankle Injuries, and Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy. She has a special interest in back & neck pain and sports injuries. Denise is also a Pilates Instructor having successfully completed courses in Ireland and London with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI).
Denise’s skills are both as a manual therapist and as a sports rehabilitation therapist. She has vast experience working with both professional and amateur athletes including basketball players, runners, dancers, footballers, golfers, rugby players, tri-athletes, gym goers and more. She was also head Physiotherapist to the Cork Senior Ladies Football team in 2010.
In her spare time, Denise has herself achieved many sporting accolades including All Ireland Basketball Cup & Superleague Medals with Glanmire Basketball Club, she has played for Ireland Senior Women’s Basketball team and enjoyed All-Ireland Gaelic Football success with her native Kerry (albeit at U-14 level!!). She now enjoys Yoga, Pilates, skiing, travel and running and she completed the Paris Marathon in April 2010.
